Honduras
Ah after a few long long bus rides, holding our breath the whole time through Managua (1 hr), we had arrived in La Ceiba Honduras. We have at last made it to the Carribean Sea. We instantly fell in love with Honduras. The prices still cheap, the volcanos only in the past and huge jungle covered moutain ranges in the present. We decided this would be our beach country. We headed pretty quickly out to the Bay Islands. It was incredible!! A few nights on Utila then over to Roatan. The water warm, crystal clear and the most blue we have ever seen. I was able to spend my golden birthday here as well!! 21 on the 21st. and it was perfect!! We woke early, austin singing happy birthday, made a little birthday breakfast and headed to the beach. We spent the day in the sun, something i never imagined would happen on my birthday seeing as its in november! Austin bought us 1 hr massages, we shopped for some things to bring home, and had an amazing dinner out on the pier! Under lights, over the sea with perfect company, my husband!! He sang happy birthday and i blew out the pretend candle on our brownie sunday! Though i missed my family back home, and all the birthday celebrating, this was perfect and something ill never forget! We also were able to snorkel the blue channel which was incredible!! We saw so many different sea creatures, turtles, crabs and fish with colors i had no idea exisisted under water. We loved spending time in the ocean, letting salt water in our mouth and feeling the white perfect sand in our toes. We loved listening to the carribean people speak and see the garifuna culture on the island. Highlights from austin as well, we found a tv playing espn and got to watch a fight and two football games. Our time on the Island was perfect and we already miss it. Honduras food is so myummy. Baladeas (amazing glorified breakfast burritos with beans ) and tres leches to name a couple! Thursday we headed back to the main land to do some white water rafting. We got to stay up this gorgeous jungle canyon. The river was warm, with some of the biggest rocks i have ever seen, making for perfect cliff jumping of course. We spent a few hours rafting, climbing and enjoying the scenery. We saw Tucans (austins favorite) and massive waterfalls falling from the mountain side. we got to spend our 2010 thanksgiving here as well! It was not traditional, or anything we were used to, but we loved it!! We ate pork chops and gallo pinto, over the rushing river by candle light. Austin and I got to sit together and reflect on the many countless number of things we have to be greatful for. Being here and traveling really makes you realize how lucky we are, and so it seemed perfect to spend Thanksgiving reflecting on that. We woke early thenext morning and headed east to Guatemala!!
